7:40-7:50 - Welcome!
Students enter the classroom and independently hang up backpacks, make lunch choice and prepare for a great day!
7:50- 8:00 - KGOE
8:00-9:00 - Calendar/Math
Calendar time is an important part of our math program. Everyday we will count the number of days of school, discuss place value, odd and even numbers, more than and less than, addition, subtraction and graphing. We will also learn about time such as the days of the week, months of the year and the four seasons. In addition to calendar activities, students will participate in hands on problem solving to develop math skills.
9:00-9:15 - Snack/Restroom
9:30-9:55 - Recess
We go to recess daily. Please dress your child appropriately for the weather. (Tennis shoes are recommended for recess.) Please label all jackets with your child's name. Please send your child to school daily with a labeled water bottle and 2 healthy snacks. We will have one morning and one afternoon snack.
9:50-11:05 - Writers and Readers' Workshop
Students will be participating in the reading and writing activities that include reading to self, reading to someone, listening to reading, word work and writing. During this time, we will have shared reading and writing lessons as well as small group reading.
11:10-11:40 - Lunch
We have two tables assigned to our class in the cafeteria. We currently have assigned seats, but students will be allowed to choose their own seats in the future. You are welcome to join your child for lunch at any time after the two weeks of school.
11:40-11:55- Storytime
11:55-12:10- Word work-We will explore learn how sounds and words work! We will work on word patterns and spelling.
12:10-12:45 - Science/Social Studies!
Hands on activities that help your child explore and learn about our world and nature!
12:50-1:40 - Special Areas
During specials, students will either be at wellness, art or music. It is recommended that tennis shoes be worn on wellness days. (A detailed schedule will inform you of your child's wellness days.)
1:45-2:15 - Social Centers
During free centers, students have the opportunity to choose their favorite activity and work on social skills with friends. They will be able to choose from the following centers: art, science, reading, construction, math, puzzles, computers, ABC, writing and home living.
2:15-2:30 - Clean Up and Community Circle/Snack
At the end of the day we will take the opportunity to reflect on the day's activities.
2:45 - Dismissal
